Nicolai Højgaard came into the final round at the DS Automobile Italian Open with a one-shot lead. He held off a stellar chasing pack, which included fellow Team TaylorMade staffer Tommy Fleetwood to become the youngest ever the DS Automobile Italian Open champion.
Knowing that he’d have to birdie 18th to claim the victory he stepped up to the tee box and flighted his TP5 golf ball down the fairway. Finding the green in 3, he holed out from three feet to finish the tournament on 13 under par.
“As a team todays win is a huge one! Not just for the fact it’s bothers and identical twins winning back to back, but for Nicolai announcing himself to the golfing world in the fashion he has done this week is just incredible and something we all felt would come. With the success Rasmus had early in his career, it had added pressure to Nicolai. The team have been working with him closely through the struggles, but these wins are a great testament to that work and validation of our product performing yet again with two of the brightest talents in world golf” - Mark Thistleton, TaylorMade Golf European Tour Representative
