Golf fans rejoice, it’s BMW PGA Championship week! Seen as the European Tour’s Major, Wentworth is still the busiest week of the year for the Team TaylorMade Sports Marketing team. It truly is a dusk-til-dawn approach as the players look to make an impact with the spotlight of the golfing world centred on Surrey.

A lot of time was spent the week before going over all the equipment, especially as the all-new P790 irons and Milled Grind 3 wedges enter the drawers on the Tour Truck. Our team look through the entry list and go through player by player to ensure all players grips, shafts, gloves, balls etc are on board the truck should they need anything and wait in anticipation for the world’s best to arrive.

“His [Rasmus Højgaard] preparation is very consistent from week to week, he doesn’t like to do too much testing but rather focus on his prep. He always comes by the truck though to say hi to the team.”

Rasmus Højgaard

As one of the longest courses on the European Tour, there is a huge benefit for the long hitters of Team TaylorMade. Coming off the back of a historic couple of weeks Rasmus Højgaard stopped by the Tour Truck in preparation for the week.

Known as a player who doesn’t like to tinker with this setup, like many, the look of our new Milled Grind 3 wedges has caught his eye. Sam Day, Tour Representative said “He loves the look of MG3, but he is a High Toe player. He thinks he will stick in High Toe in the 60 but watch this space”.

“I watched him hitting driver in practice and it was perfection. Tommy has played his best golf when he drives the ball well, he feels he can mix it with anyone in the world when his driving is on so look for him to finish 2021 strong!”

Tommy Fleetwood

Sitting in second place for Strokes Gained: Total, Tommy Fleetwood arrived in good spirits after his T-2 finish at the Italian Open last week. Feeling like he needed fresh grooves in his irons, the team matched his set club for club and then hit the range. After checking launch and spins rates, Tommy put them straight into his bag.

shaft changes
  • Martin Kaymer felt he had too much shape. As he loves hitting a small fade, he wanted to maintain his fade but reduce it to a 5yard fade as that is where he feels he plays his best. After testing a new shaft he was getting the results he wanted and went in to the week full of confidence.
  • Sami Valimaki switched into an a shaft that he previously gamed.
  • Working on something new in his golf swing, Joel Stalter wanted a shaft to help with the feeling he was trying to create. Our team pulled a couple of options and found one that instantly felt great and it was so good that Joel asked for it in is SIM2 fairway.
