The accolades continue to pile up for Collin Morikawa. In his young career, he’s already amassed two major championships, a dominant Ryder Cup performance and now he becomes the first American in history to win the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.
With Sunday heroics we’re becoming accustomed to, Collin charged from three shots back to claim victory at the DP World Tour Championship. He closed with birdies on five of the last seven holes, powered by his SIM2 fairway wood, a combo set of P•Series irons, TP Juno putter and TP5 golf ball (see full WITB below).
Firing a final-round 66, Collin overtook fellow Team TaylorMade athlete Rory McIlory, who’s stellar play all week positioned him with the lead headed into Sunday.
Following his round, an emotional Morikawa had this to say:
"It's an honor to be the first American to do that, to put my name against many, many greats and Hall of Famers. It's special. I get touched up just talking about that." Collin Morikawa
Across 10 qualifying European Tour events, Morikawa collected three victories and a total of five top 10 finishes. It earned him 5,856.4 points and a first-place finish in the Race to Dubai.
