“Like many, my parents played golf and I’d go out onto the course with them. We’re a bit of a golfing family as my brothers also play golf! I started to play at around 3 years old, and played in my first competition a year later at the Under-8 National Championships!”
Pia hit the amateur world rankings at the age of 10 and would get her first taste of professional golf in 2016 at just 12 years old at the Boras Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour Access Series. Pia finished in the top 30 at this event and competed in a further seven professional events as an amateur making every cut along the way. Pia earned a prolific 14 amateur titles before gaining her Ladies European Tour card and turning professional in 2020 at just 16 years old, making her one of the youngest ever recipients of an LET tour card, alongside fellow Team TaylorMade athlete Charley Hull.
“I was trying every single club from different manufacturers and when I hit the TaylorMade clubs, I instantly found performance, it really stood out to me and I’ve never looked back”
“WOW! When I saw it, it obviously looked different versus SIM2, but when I first hit Stealth the sound was great and the feeling was great, I loved it!”
One of Pia’s biggest strengths is unquestionably her speed so when she was fitted for Stealth in Dubai at pre-season, Tour Representative Mark Thistleton wanted to test out some stronger shafts and compare them with her current gamer. Starting with the Stealth head they went through four shafts and settled on the Fujikura Speeder TR 569 S shaft which immediately offered her consistently better contact and faster ball speeds. She liked the Stealth head, but it was a little high on spin and overall trajectory. Moving to the Stealth Plus head instantly lead to an even more impressive driving display, lowering spin and consistently hitting 160 MPH ball speed (versus 155.8 MPH with her previous gamer).
“I love to play golf, and when I hit long shots, it’s a great feeling. I try to improve my game every day and it’s that drive to get better makes me love the game even more. Being able to watch other golfers is motivating for me as I can learn a lot from them. Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world and watching how he plays, I try to learn as much as I can.”
“Since turning professional I’ve won twice on the Ladies European Tour. I would say a standout moment was my playoff win at the Jabra Ladies Open as I didn’t put any pressure on myself to win. If I’d come second it would have been my best finish, but clinching the title was a very special moment!”
“Just believe and enjoy. Having fun is the most important thing."
Watching Pia unleash Stealth Driver downrange at our pre-season testing earlier this year in Dubai was IMPRESSIVE. Whilst we couldn't divulge any information at the time, we can now share with you the details of her fitting. Click here.
