Playing the Oldest Existing Hole in Championship Golf
In our first installment of Signature Holes, we head to one of the most historic sites in golf—Prestwick Golf Club. The par-4 17th hole at Prestwick is world-famous for being the first and original Alps template hole, designed by Old Tom Morris himself. In this series, Chris Trott will take you on a tour of some of the most famous and influential golf holes in Scotland. Follow along as Trottie plays the hole, navigating his way off the tee and then up and over the courses' signature feature—the alps—that creates a demanding blind second shot to a green that is protected by a huge sahara bunker. If you ever get a chance to play this iconic hole, don't forget to ring the bell after to let others know you're clear of the green!
