The TaylorMade Women’s Advisory Board are an elite group of influential Women located across Europe who have been carefully selected by TaylorMade to represent the brand as influential, skilled and knowledgeable members of the golf industry. But who are they you may ask? Let’s find out.
TaylorMade: We’ve got 12 Women’s Advisory Board members located around Europe but could you each let us know where you’re based.
Emma Booth: I’m based at Winchester Golf Academy in England and I’ve been there for 7 years. We’ve got a great facility where I focus most of my time on lessons and custom fitting.
Kelly Sotière: I’m currently based between Montpellier and Côte d’Azur focusing on technical and mindset coaching for amateur and professional players.
Caroline Berry: It's not as exciting as the South of France, but I’ve been based at Bromborough since 1988! I’m currently the Cheshire Senior Captain and Bromborough Club Welfare Officer.
Esther Poburski: I’m based in Germany and I’ve been the regional golf coach for Northern Germany for the best part of 10 years,. I’m also the co-national coach of the German golf team developing the girls coming through the elite ranks of the nation.
TaylorMade: What does it mean to be an TaylorMade Women’s Advisory Board Member?
Emma Booth: It means being one member of a fantastic team of women who are passionate about bringing the modern women’s game to the forefront and spotlight. Through our collaboration we can directly contribute to the innovation of products specifically designed for women and influence how that message is communicated to the golfing world. We are helping to create an era where women in golf are there for all to see, which will no doubt inspire the next generation of girls and women that golf is a sport for them.
Annelie Weimenhög: A lot! It’s inspiring to be a part of a such a talented group of women, all working with different areas of golf striving for coaching and improving women golfers and making their time on the golf course more enjoyable.
Dearbhla Behan: It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet other female golfers who have the same passion for golf as me. In Ireland we have a limited number of Female PGA Professionals so it’s great to connect with new faces and people. Being able to share our opinions with TaylorMade is a huge honour and seeing Kalea Premier being released to the market is a proud moment for all of us. I feel like it’s a big responsibility being part of the board as we’re all wanting to grow the game and make it accessible for all women and young girls.
TaylorMade: The industry has seen a rise in Women coming into the game, what would be your advice to anyone starting out?
Emma Booth: My top tip would be; find your tribe! Look online or speak to friends about where you could join in a friendly get into golf scheme. Find a facility that makes you feel welcome and helps set you on a pathway to the type of golf you want to get involved with, be it hitting balls on a driving range or how to get go about getting a handicap, joining a club, and playing in competitions. Golf is there to be enjoyed by all.
Veronica Cervin: I agree with Emma, if you start with a friend or even a group of you it adds to the enjoyment and takes the pressure off.
Eva Omander: Trying it with family or friends makes it much more fun. Similar to what Emma mentioned, if you can join a group or get your friends together on the range you’ll forget you’re playing golf, you’ll just have fun!
Annelie Weimenhög Tag along with a friend or family member to the club or go with another girl friend as if you would go to the gym or padel court. Book a lesson together and go from there. No pressure of performance at once, just get a feeling of what it’s all about.
TaylorMade: How did you get into golf?
Susana Ribeiro: I was influenced by my parents and some members of my family who also play and that's why golf has been with me for as long as I can remember. Golf has always been my biggest passion and it's wonderful to be able to work on what I love to do most.
Alice Davis: My parents wanted my brother to try another sport and I talked them into taking me along as well and I loved it right from the start. I love the fact that golf can be competitive between golfers of all different ages and abilities. Golf has such a unique community where everyone can play the sport together. Golf appeals to so many people because you can make it as relaxed or competitive as you choose. I enjoy playing golf for many reason…
TaylorMade: What would be your advice for beginners?
Eva Omander: To relax and have fun, Golf is not only a sport it’s also a lifestyle.
Annelie Weimenhög: Practice short game and lots of putting.
Susana Ribeiro: Never forget to have fun.
TaylorMade: With the vast experience of the group, if you had to pick one standout moment what would it be?
Susana Ribeiro: 6 time Portuguese National Champion. Member of the LET from 2017 to 2021.
Kelly Sotière: I played in the Individual National Championship from 12 to 16 years old and amateur team competitions which was great, but I'd also have to say being part of the volunteers team of the 2015 Solheim Cup, on the course with players, in St Leon Rot Golf Club.
Joanna Klatten: I’ve had 3 Top 3’s on the Ladies European Tour and 2 wins on Australian Tour co-sanctioned with European tour (Vic open and NSW open). I really enjoyed playing on the LPGA for 5 years, and one standout moment was when I played in Hawaii at the Lotte Championship and finished 6th.
TaylorMade: Each Ambassador and their location is unique. If there was one main focus throughout your day to day routine what would it be?
Alex Schleining: My main focus is supporting young and promising athletes. I’m currently coaching and mentoring three Tour players on the Epson and Ladies European Tour.
Alice Davis: My main focus teaching. I teaching players of all ages and abilities in group and individual lessons, and believe in understanding the needs of the individual so they learn and enjoy their lessons.
Dearbhla Behan: I love having my business and golf shop. If your near Rush Golf Club, pop in and say hello!
Kelly Sotière: Technical and mindset coaching. My main focus everyday with coaching is to help each player being/ getting ground in their swing and mind. I also love working with Juniors, individually or in a team, learning how to get the good habits to train efficiently, under pressure and in a fun way still.
Joanna Klatten: I focus a lot on individual lessons, golf school and team training, but another area that I love is that I’m part of the commentary team for the French Golf Channel.
