We caught up with Collin Morikawa on the range at Torrey Pines prior to the start of the Farmers Insurance Open, and he talked us through every stick in his bag. Here’s his break down…club by club.
Note: These descriptions are direct quotes from Collin.
Stealth 2 Plus Driver

Driver's awesome. To see something new and have it do what I want, cut when I want. It has been really exciting.
Putter | TP Soto

We ran through all the specs and dialed it in. Rolls it in the hole...most times.
Milled Grind 3 Lob Wedge (60°)

It’s a Tiger grind. So, if Tiger can chip with it and create some of golf’s most memorable moments, hopefully I can get some similar results. There’s a reason one of the best in the world uses it, and I just have to figure out that reason why.
Milled Grind 3 Sand Wedge 56°

Switched bounces recently and the change to a little less bounce has it going through the turf nicely. Really like it.
Milled Grind 3 Gap Wedge 50°

Sneaky. It's one of my favorite clubs. Nothing's better than the 8 iron, but its always trustee when I'm about 120 yards away.
P·7CM Pitching Wedge

Perfect for the little 130-yard choke down cut pitching wedge.
P·7CM 9 Iron

Just a reliable club that plays its roll and hits the number.
P·7CM 8 Iron

The 8-iron is just my favorite club, always has been. I feel really comfortable with it. Even if nothing's working, the 8 iron can sometimes pull me out of that.
P·7CM 7 Iron

Similar to the 9 iron, just a reliable club that fits the gap.
P·7MC 6 Iron

Switching over a little more forgiveness with the MC. Really enjoy hitting it, fills that stretch of where you're about 190-200 yards. When you hit a solid one with the six, it feels really good.
P·7MC 5 Iron

Five is my favorite number. So, this one kind of has a sweet spot in my heart, right there with my 8 iron. I'd probably put 8 iron first, then the 50 degree and 5 iron are two A and two B.
P·770 4 Iron

It's a rocket. That thing goes and it gets up in the air. I like to swing it a little harder than I should, sometimes.
Stealth Plus 5-Wood

The ball goes pretty straight with my 5 wood and it gets up in the air with really good with height. I love what it does and how good it feels through the turf.
SIM 3-Wood

We're testing soon to see if we can beat this one. So, I'm excited.
Dealing With the Rough at Torrey
You gotta play smart and hack it out. Most cases, you're not going to get on the green so just take your medicine and go.
